Simon Saldner is a Research Data Management Specialist at Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS), the Dutch national institute for long-term access to research data. He obtained a BA in Peace and Conflict studies from Malmö University, and a Research Masters (MSc) in Political Science and Public Administration from Leiden University. Simon has a background in quantitative conflict research, including on international arms trade, and the Colombian peace process. As a researcher at KU Leuven, he investigated the reintegration of former FARC-EP combatants in Colombia using surveys and field work. He has also worked as a research consultant, including for the Norwegian development organization NCA. At DANS, Simon works on project managment and coordination related to the projects FAIRsFAIR, and SSHOC. These projects aim to implement the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), and to make research more open and reusable through the adoption of Open Science practices and FAIR principles.
