System for HEBrew Text: ANnotations for Queries and Markup.

Layman's description

SHEBANQ is a search engine for the Hebrew Bible, powered by the BHSA linguistic database, formerly known as ETCBC or WIVU. The data is archived for open access, and the program code is open source.

SHEBANQ started as a project with the same name, funded by CLARIN-NL, the Dutch section of the European Common Language Resources Infrastructure project CLARIN.

It was carried out from mid 2013 to mid 2014 by the Eep Talstra Centre for Bible and Computer ETCBC and Data Archiving and Networked Services DANS, an institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences KNAW and the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research NWO.

DANS and the ETCBC, partnered with the German Bible Society DBG and the Netherlands Bible Society, NBG contribute to the sustained availability of the texts and data in SHEBANQ.
