Abstract
DANS (Data Archiving and Networked Services), an institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), is the Dutch national centre of expertise and repository for research data. Through technical services as well as training and consultancy, DANS supports research communities to make their data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR). Researchers in the domain of the health, medical and green life sciences, can use the DANS Data Station Life Sciences to safely archive and share their datasets for the long term. The Data Station includes domain specific adaptations such as specific metadata, medical vocabularies, and connections to discipline specific registries, catalogues or (other) data platforms, like the Dutch Health-RI Data Catalogue. Version control, various access and licence options (including restricted access), extended search options, and the provision of an internationally recognised Digital Object Identifier (DOI), are standard functionalities of the Data Station. Thanks to the participation of DANS in many international, European and national networks and projects, the Data Station runs on state-of-the-art technologies and is connected to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and the European Health Data Space (EHDS) in the making.
