Jaekelwelten: Die Bilder des Paläontologen und Geologen Otto Jaekel (1863-1929)

Research output: Book/ReportBookProfessional

Abstract

Otto Jaekel was one of the most prominent and important paleontologists and geologists in Germany around the turn of the century. A true polymath, he also wrote about history, ecology, art history, politics, and political science. It almost seems self-evident that he designed the illustrations for his scientific work himself.
In addition to - and often parallel to - his scientific work, Jaekel created an extensive body of drawings and paintings. This volume contains a selection of these works owned by the University of Greifswald, supplemented by some pieces from other collections, especially those of his descendants.
