Abstract
In this contribution, we highlight the increasing tension between the dream of eternal life, pursued with the help of science and technology, and new social attitudes that advocate acceptance of finite life. These attitudes have arisen from the different experiences and needs of older people and from immigration. They call for reflection and question the existing conception of both eternal life and finite life.
