Abstract

The chapter describes and analyses the impact of (failed) migration and return to Afghanistan, and its mental health impact. Through analysing relationships within the wider "community of support" in ethnographic research settings, the chapter offers insight into the spoken and muted obligations that researcher and researched as well as the wider social setting is expecting, reflecting on the uneven political ground on which such interactions unfold.
