Abstract

Four researchers spent five years examining huge stacks of documents to trace the exact share of slave trade in the economy of the Dutch Republic. They concluded that the slave trade and the trade in slaveproduced commodities were far more lucrative than previously believed. “Amsterdam was the hub of that colonial trade”
