Abstract

During the workshop, the group brainstormed a few ideas for projects related to user studies. Both Andrea (comparison of the use of the open source Dataverse platform) and Lynda (user study comparing 2D representations to 3D representations) have local projects that would benefit from user testing. All participants were convinced that despite the existence of evaluation studies already, there is still a great need to understand better how visualizations in general and large-scale maps in particular are used in navigating existing and producing new knowledge.
