The glosses to the first book of the Etymologiae of Isidore of Seville: a digital scholarly edition

Abstract

The first book of Isidore's Etymologiae, the part of his essential encyclopaedia dealing with grammar (grammatica), were copiously annotated in the early Middle Ages. More than 6,300 glosses to this text survive in manuscripts predating the thirteenth century. In this digital edition, they are published and their distribution, parallels and transmission is demonstrated using three network visualizations.
