Expert Meeting EHRI-NL

This second EHRI-NL expert meeting comprised a morning and an afternoon session, including a lunch break. In the morning, an update on the European network EHRI-ERIC was provided, with a focus on advancing the Dutch branch. A crucial aspect involved the formation of working groups and the determination of agendas. Building upon the input from the inaugural EHRI-NL meeting, three distinct working groups were identified, each concentrating on specific themes related to the Dutch research and archival landscape: 1) Accessibility of collections for scientific research, 2) Overview of Holocaust-related research, 3) Legal aspects of Holocaust research.

Consensus during the preceding meeting underscored the significant potential for progress in these domains, highlighting EHRI-NL's pivotal role. Participants were urged to contemplate their preference for joining a specific working group and to consider the concrete activities these groups could undertake.

The afternoon session was dedicated to a substantive discussion on the topic of 'micro-archives.' These encompass small, often lesser-known collections originating from local initiatives, projects, or individuals. Notably, three institutions—the Hornemann Huis, the Truus Wijsmuller Archive, and the NVBS (Dutch Association of Enthusiasts in Rail and Tram Transport; a pertinent archive for Holocaust studies concerning the NS during wartime)—expressed their willingness to present themselves and contribute to discussions on this subject.
