FAIR-Aware: Assessing your knowledge on the FAIR data principles

Beschrijving

FAIRsFAIR aims to supply practical solutions for the use of the FAIR principles throughout the research data life cycle. Emphasis is on the uptake of good practices and fostering FAIR data culture, contributing to the policies and practices that will turn the EOSC into a functioning infrastructure.

To this end, the FAIR-Aware tool has been developed (https://fairaware.dans.knaw.nl/). This online self-assessment tool helps users assess their knowledge on how to make datasets FAIR before uploading to a repository. Each question is supplied with additional information and practical tips to extend users' understanding of the FAIR principles.

Currently, the development team is collecting feedback to make the tool more user-friendly and relevant for its stakeholders. The current statistics are regularly assessed. During the lightning talk participants will learn how the tool works and how various stakeholder groups (researchers, RPOs, RFOs) can use it to help enable FAIR in their community.

FAIR-Aware is designed to increase researchers’ and data stewards’ awareness of and willingness to comply with the FAIR data principles. This will help promote the practice of creating high-quality data, implementing the FAIR agenda and fostering FAIR culture at large. The FAIR-Aware tool will be sustained beyond the FAIRsFAIR project by DANS, which will assure that the resources and guidance in the tool will remain relevant and useful during the entirety of the EOSC implementation phase.
