Beschrijving

In January 2017 the project: Golden Agents: Creative Industries and the Making of the Dutch Golden Age started. The funding by the Netherlands Organization of Science (NWO) in the so-called Large Investments Program allows a large multidisciplinary consortium of Dutch academic institutions (Huygens ING, University of Amsterdam, Vrije University of Amsterdam, Utrecht University) and cultural heritage institutions (Rijksmuseum, KB National Library of the Netherlands, RKD Institute for the History of Art and the City Archives of Amsterdam) to build an infrastructure for the study of the creative industries of the Dutch Golden Age. In this infrastructure Semantic Web and Multi-Agent technologies are combined to analyse interactions between the production and the consumption and between various branches of the creative industries of the Dutch Golden Age, such as the visual arts, literature, theatre, music, knowledge etc. This does not only require the modelling of material and immaterial features of the multiple histories of the Dutch Golden Age, but also the alignment with ontologies and standards that are developed in the largest infrastructure for the humanities in the Netherlands: CLARIAH. We see the workshop as an opportunity to test how our first experiments with an overarching core-model for the Golden Agents infrastructure can be aligned in an optimal way with existing standards such as CIDOC-CRM.
