Persoonlijk profiel

Pascal Flohr is part of the Research Data Expert team at Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS), the Dutch national centre of expertise and repository for research data.

Her interest in research data management comes from her background as a researcher in archaeology, where she worked for example on bringing together and interpreting palaeoclimate, radiocarbon, and (other) archaeological data. This interest was further developed during her time in the Endangered Archaeology of the Middle East and North Africa project at the University of Oxford, where a spatial database and its spinoffs as well as training on these topics were key components. During this time she was also one of the initiators of the Mapping Digital Heritage in Jordan (MaDiH) project.

Before joining DANS, and aside from Research Data Management related topics, Pascal worked as researcher in archaeology, with a main focus on past human-environment interactions in the Middle East. She studied Archaeology (BA and MPhil, Leiden University) and received her PhD in Archaeological Science from the University of Reading, UK. She subsequently did postdocs in Middle Eastern Archaeology at Reading, in Endangered Archaeology at the University of Oxford, and in Archaeological Stable Isotopes at Kiel University, Germany.
