N2 - This chapter scrutinizes the ways in which current sociolinguistic research at Maastricht University, and more specifically within the context of the Chair in ‘Languageculture in Limburg,’ is conducted. By outlining three case-studies pertaining to the Dutch and Belgian provinces of Limburg, we show how we deploy ethnographic and sociolinguistic methods to investigate linguistic resources in regional and social identity construction, and how speakers of distinct backgrounds in various contexts identify with, or dis-identify from others, through language, labeling, and addressing practices.
