Samenvatting

The article is devoted to the history of the acquisition of the Marx-Engels Institute in Great Britain in 1927-1931. The director of the Institute David Rjazanov organized the collectioning of the archives, books, serials with the help of Harry Stevens that gave the possibility to gather in Moscow an excellent collection of the British materials on the history of Chartism, Trade Unionism, Socialist and other social movements. The process and methods of the work were reconstructed on the basis of correspondence between Marx-Engels Institute and H.Stevens.
