The tenor of this essay is not that modern contraception is the cause of all the demographic changes indicated. Rather, it should be interpreted as an attempt to highlight its important role in the process of social change industrialized societies experienced since the mid-1969s.The three dimensions of social change are: structural/economic change, cultural change and technological change.
