Samenvatting
In the wake of Franco Moretti’s notion of distant reading, much has been written about the potential for a quantitative and computational turn in the study of literary phenomena. This approach seems especially suitable to studying literary reception, among other reasons because the number of reception documents has risen sharply with the advent of Web 2.0.. In this article I sketch the landscape of online book discussion, and discuss the research potential of a large and representative corpus of online responses to books. I discuss some of the implications of the quantitative-computational turn for literary studies.
