In this talk, the authors will report back on the challenging process of moving the journal Variants to an online venue, and comment on some of the decisions that were made along the way – such as making LaTeX an integral part of the editorial workflow. Perhaps here too, digital tools and methods may help to propel the research forward, further into the 21st century.
